WHAT'S DIFFERENT ON THE ACT

The ACT punishes pacing, not difficulty.

Every section is fast. ACT English gives you ~36 seconds per question. Math is calculator-allowed throughout (no calc-free section like SAT). Science is data-reading, not memorized biology. Prepful's ACT mode trains pacing first, content second.

The four sections

  • English — 75 Q in 45 min · grammar, rhetoric, organization
  • Math — 60 Q in 60 min · algebra → trig, calc allowed throughout
  • Reading — 40 Q in 35 min · 4 passages, fastest section
  • Science — 40 Q in 35 min · graphs, experiments, conflicting viewpoints

Composite scoring

  • Each section scored 1–36
  • Composite is the average, rounded
  • Writing (optional) scored separately, 2–12
  • Superscoring across test dates now official

PACING DRILLS

Built around the ACT's biggest enemy: the clock.

01

Per-section sprint mode

Drill a single section under exact-test timing. Pax tracks your pace per question and flags where you slow down.

02

"Read like an ACT student"

Reading and Science use passage-skim drills first — answer location, not full comprehension. Saves 4–6 minutes per section.

03

Skip-and-return practice

The ACT rewards triage. Pax teaches the 90-second skip rule and tracks "questions you should have skipped."

04

Full mocks at real time

20 full-length ACT mocks plus unlimited mini mocks (Pro). No fake "untimed practice." Composite within ±2 points of real ACT 86% of the time.

Common ACT questions.

What is Prepful ACT prep?

Prepful ACT prep is a study app built for the ACT's four scored sections: English, Math, Reading, and Science. It helps you start with a free diagnostic, see your composite score projection, follow a daily ACT study plan, practice weak spots, build pacing, review mistakes, and take timed mocks.

How should I study for the ACT?

Start by finding your baseline with a free ACT diagnostic. Prepful shows your composite score projection, section-level weak spots, and what to study next. Then follow a daily plan that combines targeted ACT practice, pacing drills, Mistake Bank review, and timed mocks.

The goal is not just to do more questions. It is to learn where you lose points, improve your timing, and practice under real ACT pressure.

How does Prepful help with ACT pacing?

ACT pacing is one of the biggest challenges because every section moves fast. Prepful trains pacing with section-specific drills, timed practice, skip-and-return strategy, mini mocks, and full-length ACT mocks. Pax also helps you spot where you slow down, so you can practice faster decision-making before test day.

Does Prepful include ACT practice tests?

Yes. Prepful includes ACT practice through Smart Drills, topic-based practice, mini mocks, full-length mocks, and timed section practice. These help you build accuracy, pacing, and confidence across ACT English, Math, Reading, and Science.

Should I take the SAT or the ACT?

Most colleges accept both the SAT and ACT, so the better choice is usually the test where you perform stronger. Take a short diagnostic for each and compare your projected scores. Prepful can help you decide by showing your SAT and ACT score projections and weak-spot maps. You can also use the ACT to SAT converter to compare score targets.

What is a good ACT score?

A good ACT score depends on your college goals. In general, a score around 20 is near the national average, 24+ is above average, 30+ is competitive for selective schools, and 34+ is highly competitive. Prepful helps you track your composite score projection and focus on the sections most likely to raise your score.

Does Prepful cover all ACT sections?

Yes. Prepful covers ACT English, Math, Reading, and Science. You can practice grammar and rhetoric for English, algebra through trig for Math, passage strategy for Reading, and graph/data interpretation for Science. Your daily plan prioritizes the sections and question types where you have the most room to improve.

Is the ACT going digital?

Yes, the ACT is rolling out an online format, but the core skills remain similar. Prepful's ACT mode is built around ACT content, pacing, section timing, and question types, so students can prepare for both paper and digital ACT formats.

How does the ACT Mistake Bank work?

Prepful saves missed ACT questions into your Mistake Bank automatically. You can see what you picked, the correct answer, and the skill or trap behind the mistake. Then you can redo missed questions so wrong answers become your next practice set instead of disappearing after a quiz.

Is Prepful free for ACT prep?

Yes. Prepful Free gives you the daily mission, the full ACT learning path, Study Guides, Flashcards, 8-question Practice Tests per topic, all 900 SAT/ACT vocab words, unlimited Pax chat, a daily 8-question Smart Drill, your last 30 days of mistakes, 1 Full Mock, and weekly score projection.

Prepful Pro adds unlimited customizable Smart Drills, all 20 Full Mocks, unlimited Mini Mocks per section, snap-a-question with your camera, real-time section-by-section score projection, and a forever Mistake Bank. Pro includes a 7-day free trial and starts at the $19.99/month equivalent on the annual plan. See full comparison →
